restaurant: teppan village

Last Saturday, I went to Teppan Village to experience their highly-regarded restaurant first hand. Within the restaurant, there are 3 or 4 stainless steel kitchens - teppanyaki - out in the dining room. They look like mini bars, but they're not for whipping up drinks. A waiter takes your food selection (we each ordered the steak and 1 lb lobster) and drink selection (a bottle of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon). The talented Japanese chefs dazzle the audience with their skilled chopping techniques as they slice the vegetables. Then, they drizzle oil along the steel grill and light it on fire! We were sitting in the front row, so we were closest to the action. The lobster and steak are cooked right in front of you as well - and tossed onto your plate as soon as they reach perfection.
We were happy with the food, but it was the presentation and entertainment value that sold us.
